Little Red Riding Hood

Greetings from the PurplePatty.com Community! When design patent #134,889, for a cookie jar design was granted to Louise Elizabeth Bauer of Zanesville, Ohio her creation for the Little Red Riding Hood cookie jar came to life at the A.E. Hull Pottery Company.

This patent went on to protect the complete line of Little Red Riding Hood products that were produced between 1943 and 1957. Hull, Royal China, and Novelty Company made the blanks and design completion was almost all completed at Royal China. Because the pieces were hand-painted with no control on color mixture or application, many variations exist.

REPRODUCTION ALERT: Many Little Red Riding Hood cookie jar reproductions have made their way from Mexico. The authentic Little Red Riding Hood cookie jar measures at 13" tall and the Mexican reproduction is shorter.
